EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE OF SHALIVAHANA IN THE FIELD OF POWER GENERATION :
Shalivahana Projects Ltd established a 6.00 MW biomass based power project near Mancherial in Adilabad Dist. of Andhra Pradesh in the year 2002 and since then it is being operated successfully.
Project in Brief : With the support of The Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources (MNES), the Government of India has come forward to support biomass based power plants in a big way throughout the country with fiscal incentives.
Non Conventional Energy Development Corporation (NEDCAP), Hyderabad is a Nodal agency of MNES in the State of Andhra Pradesh and is empowered to appraise and grant permissions to private entrepreneurs to set up projects using non-conventional energy sources. Thus, Shalivahana Projects Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with NEDCAP for the project. The Plant is operating at its full capacity supplying power to APTRANSCO. The generated power is fed to the grid at 132 KV to the Mancherial substation at Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Board (APSEB).
The plant is established in an area of about 12.0 acres at Garimalla Village, Mancherial Mandal, Adilabad District, Andhra Pradesh. The location is at about 1.5 Km from the Mancherial town along the State Highway and the old Mancherial village at about 500 meters.
The bio-mass based power plant is aimed at achieving the objects of using the biomass wealth by utilizing locally available fuels - rice husk, paddy straw, saw dust and cotton stalk supplemented by small quantity of coal as per MNES Guidelines.
The consultancy services were provided by M/s. M.N. Dastur & Company Limited, Calcutta, leading consultants for these kinds of projects in India.
The main equipment of the power plant is Fluidized Bed Combustion Boiler (FBC) and Steam Turbine Generator (STG). In addition to these main equipment, the plant has all the necessary auxiliary systems such as fuel storage and handling system, Ash handling system, re-circulating water system, water de-mineralizing plant, fire fighting system, compressed air system, electrical system including power distribution equipment, instrumentation and controls and all other utilities required.
The plant was commissioned with a total cost of Rs.2585.40 lacs in December 2002 and running productively.
Shalivahana Projects Ltd. has not only invested money as a promoter but also as a Techno Savvy group, it actively participated and involved at each and every stage of the project right from the concept designing to equipment selection to erection to commissioning of the project. The immense experience gained by commissioning this project in record time, the company got confidence, expertise encouragement and motivation to develop Power Projects based on Non-conventional energy sources not only in the state of Andhra Pradesh but also in the other states like Maharashtra, Orissa, Chattisgarh .
